Would you consider writing a post about your ethical philosophy and why you’re utilitarian?
Licona keeps citing your example of the check with the exact amount your dad allegedly received right after a prayer meeting. http://commonsenseatheism.com/?p=557
Is there any solid evidence? A church bulletin with the amount needed printed on it, along with a copy of a bank deposit statement? Any solid evidence at all?
How young were you at that time?
Can you remember for sure when your dad first began telling this story?
In the earliest telling was it the exact amount to the dollar?
In the earliest telling did the check arrive that same day, waiting for your dad in his mailbox right after the prayer meeting?
Was the check mailed and went through the US Postal Service, or could someone have stuck it in his mailbox that night right after the prayer meeting?
Was it truly taken out of the mailbox or was it in a pile of things received that day that his wife had out on a table for him to read?
How many people knew of the amount needed prior to the prayer service?
How many people who knew the amount also might have known and spoke with someone who knew people, leading back to the lady who donated the amount?
I know of too many preacher’s stories that don’t ring true, never get looked into further, nor investigated at all, or get aggrandized over time.
Please email me your best recollections. Or answer “don’t know” to questions to which you might not have clear recollections. Is your dad and mom still alive? How clear are their recollections? How long ago was this?
Yeah, sorry, no idea!
